This past week we presented research about the social determinants of health, substance abuse, and poor mental health in Montana and Wyoming. Our presentation targeted tribal leaders, health care providers, counselors, community members, and program staff. In the last six- months we have been exploring the determinants of substance abuse and poor mental health in Montana and Wyoming. We used determinants like poor housing, lower education, violent crime rate, poverty, health insurance, drug over dose deaths, and rural location. Through a series of regression models we found that severe housing problems were the strongest predictor of substance abuse and poor mental health, followed by lower educational attainment, poverty, and violent crime.
The importance of environment and health cannot be underestimated.
At Allyson Kelley & Associates exploring data to find solutions is what we do. Now that we know more, we can do more.
